Simo holds a BSc. Hons in mathematics from the University of Buea. He has been passionate about mathematics and its applications since his childhood, and was in the top 10 of the best mathematician in Cameroon in 2007, and gold medallist for the Cameroon Mathematics Olympiad in 2008. As a student in the University he was the regional coordinator of the national Mathematics Olympiad for the Sud-West region prior to his election in 2015 to the presidency of Mathematics students union of the University of Buea. The organization of the first regional Mathematics Olympiad in the south west of Cameroon was the high point of his tenure as president. He took part in the Cameroon Leadership Academy in 2016, an in 2017 he was admitted as a member of the organizing committee of the Academy where he was in charge of the data collection a strategic orientation. His vision for Mathematics for Africa as one of the key elements for African development and his passion for entrepreneurship will be a great asset for him as the CEO of Math Entrepreneur. He remains a consultant at the Pan-African Leadership and Entrepreneurship Foundation and in other multinational firms.
Patrice Ndambomve holds a Ph.D in Pure and Applied Mathematics from the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, Nigeria. He is passionate about Mathematics and its applications, using mathematical techniques to solve real-world problems, STEM education and entrepreneurship. As a member of Youth Without Boundaries
International, he has been involved in many social and community development projects. He served as the coordinator of the AUST-Chika Village education project in Abuja, which involved voluntary teaching at Chika Village primary school, the Chika Village community building and the waste management project. His experiences in research and social projects are a great asset to Math Entrepreneur. He is currently serving as lecturer of Mathematics at the department of Mathematics, University of Buea. He is passionate about mathematical control theory, convex optimization, machine learning, and operations research.
James in an ultra-motivated problem solver keen on asset pricing problems in incomplete markets and machine learning algorithms for optimal advertising. Along with two masters degrees in pure and applied mathematics, he holds a postgraduate certificate in business managements from the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT-Berlin). James has a well developed a people centric problem solving approach that employs tools from Mathematics in providing solutions and mapping out growth strategies for small businesses and organisations. He has enjoyed leadership exposure both with the mathematics student union and catholic community of the University of Buea. He is an excellent communicator with a rich portfolio of diverse technical skill.
Marie holds a Master Degree in Strategic Human Resources Management from the Pan African Institute for Development West Africa, Buea, Cameroon. She is passionate about entrepreneurship, innovation and development. As a member of One Child One Smile (OCOS) foundation, she has been involved in many social projects notably, helping poor orphans get better life quality and access to education. She serves as the Coordinator of the Cameroon Leadership Academy (CLA), an annual one week free program of training and capacity building in Leadership and Management for 100 Young Cameroonian Active Citizens. Her experience in project management, her passion and dedication is, unequivocally, a great assets to Math Entrepreneur.
Stevye is a detailed oriented and highly motivated person. He is a holder of a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the university of Buea Cameroon and a holder of two master's degrees, one in Applied mathematics from the university of Buea Cameroon and one in Quantitative methods with a concentration in mathematical finance from Austin Peay State university Tennessee USA. Stevye is passionate about statistical sciences, Applied mathematics and their applications to finance (interest rate modelling and derivative pricing) and data science. Stevye's passion for statistical sciences has led him to enroll for a PhD in mathematical science with a Specialization in Applied statistics and as an entrepreneur, his aim is to promote statistical and financial literacy to young Africans through Math Entrepreneur.
Guiawa is currently a PhD candidate in Mathematics and Statistics at Oregon State University (U.S.A). She holds a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Buea in Cameroon, and a MS in Applied Mathematics from Columbia University (U.S.A). She graduated best of her class from the University of Buea in 2014, and after her Master of Science worked as a Financial Analyst in the Automotive Industry. Her time as analyst, has endowed her with huge interest and skill in the application of Mathematics and Data Science in general. Her particular goal is to master the use of Mathematics for Forecasting and Decision Making based on insights derived from data, obtained through Mathematical Models and Machine Learning processes. Additionally she is an advocate for the involvement of more people of African descent in STEM, and women in particular.
David holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Ngaoundere, Cameroon where he completed a BSc in Scientific Computation, and a Research Masters in Mathematical Engineering. In keeping with his academic background, David is very interested in scientific activities that value mathematical and computer-based modeling, analysis, optimization and simulation tools. David is currently a senior lecturer at the National School of Agro-Industrial Sciences of the University of Ngaoundere where he teaches theoretical and practical courses in computer science and programming, probability, statistics and experimental design, numerical methods, operational research and optimization, linear algebra and analysis, and modeling of chemical reactors. As part of the popularization of mathematics and their applications, Dr. Fotsa is since 2015 the Secretary General of the Amicale of Mathematicians and Computer scientists graduated from the University of Ngaoundere (AMID-UN). Since 2019, he has also been an active member of the management team of the SIAM chapter (Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics) of students from the University of Ngaoundere, where he has been president since its creation in 2014. As a fun activity Dr. Fotsa is a lover of singing, guitar, dance and sports.
Romuald is a maths enthusiast with a PhD in statistics from the University of Montreal. He has a very broad mathematics culture and works on applications of the science in various spheres of activity. Romuald is one of the initiators of the Camermath platform, which aims to supervise young Cameroonian mathematicians and provide them with pedagogic aids for their work. He firmly believes that mathematics and young mathematicians in particular, have a great role to play in the development of Africa, and puts this believe to work through dedicated support for several initiatives in this direction.
Foutse is a data science enthusiast and developer, with a master’s degree in Data Science. She enjoyed good balance of studies and leadership responsibilities through her university days, most notably during competitions like the Atos IT challenge and has since been involved in the promotion of sciences with the youths of Africa via the WPSYG organisation. Foutse is interested in industrial applications of Artificial intelligence models and the interpretability of such models. Her skills and expertise lend themselves perfectly to Math Entrepreneurs vision and work.
Clotilde is completing a PhD in Applied mathematics at Nice Côte d’Azur Unversity (France), working with the BIOCORE team at the INRIA research center. Clotilde finished top of applied mathematics masters cohort at the university of Douala, Cameroon and has sound research experience in the mathematical modeling of hepatitis B with vertical transmission and the modeling of propagation of fungus that attacks the leaves of coffee. She is passionate about teaching and works as a part time lecturer at the University of Douala Cameroon and the Institut Universitaire de la Côte. She is a full time lecturer at Polytech Nice Sophia Antipolis, and devotes a good percentage of her off-school time to blogging on Facebook and Youtube.
Yvan processes a Bachelor of Science in agriculture from the University of Buea, Cameroon, in the specialization of crop production. Yvan was not particularly passionate about agriculture but rather saw it as a means to alleviate poverty and impact on rural development. During his time at the University of Buea, he carried out several personal and school-related farm practice projects which furnished him with adequate practical skills as the cropping and management of tropical crops are concerned. After his graduation from the University of Buea, he carried on with his farm projects and as well serving as an agronomic consultant for the NGO Math Entrepreneur. Quenching his thirst for agricultural and rural development, he parallelly volunteered in the national program SAPEP (Small Holder Agricultural Productivity Enhancement Program) through IRAD (Institute of Agricultural Research for Development) where he served in the improved seed accessibility unit. Yvan Carhel is currently doing his master’s studies at the University of Gottingen, Germany, in the field of plant and animal breeding. His main research interests include genomic prediction, resurrection plants, data analysis, drought resistance, and rural development.
Carnot is an actuary from ISFA (Institut de Sciences Financière et d’Assurances), working on research and development programs for insurance companies in non-life insurance. Carnot completed a masters degree in mathematical sciences from African Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Cameroon before moving to France where he did another masters in Algebraic geometric with applications to cryptography and actuarial sciences. Carnot has an over view on mathematics, and extensive experience working in several subject areas in pure and applied mathematics. Carnot strongly believes that to build Africa, the new generation has to be up to date with the sciences and the ensuing technologies. He brings this beliefs and the accompanying passions aboard, contributing relentlessly to the sustainable and transformative development agenda of Math Entrepreneur.
